Canaan MTB Festival 2010- 2nd Annual

Friday June 25th

Ladies Day Tour! - Sue Haywood will lead a women’s tour and do on trail skills building. We will leave from Blackwater Bikes at 10 am and ride on the Canaan Valley Institute’s beautiful property in Davis. These trails have a mix of open grassy meadows, singletrack in the woods and the famous “moon rock”. This is geared towards the intermediate rider who wants to try more technical terrain in a fun, supportive atmosphere. Trailside Lunch is provided. Post ride wine and music at Hypno Coffee. Cost is $50.00 out of towners, $35.00 locals.

Saturday June 26th

Group Trail Rides starting out of Blackwater Bikes. sign up between 9 and 10am . Donation of $20 suggested, all goes to Tucker Country Trails maintenance.

 

RIDE LIST: (Not set in stone, but getting there!)

  Hardcore- This ride is long and hard, but oh so fun. Ride a mix of the toughest trails on Canaan Mt. Misery loves company. led by Nick Waite
  Canaan Adventure Tour- ride from Davis to Canaan and back with a lunch stop at the Trail Mix in Canaan. (this is a long ride with alot of technical sections, not for beginners)led by Chaga Todd 
  Ultimate Fitness Ride- Camp 70 up to Beardon’s Knob, Canaan Loop Road, 244 up Blackwater Canyon. No singletrack, but lots of miles. leader tba
  Nature Lovers Ride - Ride a mix of terrain at a carefree pace with a shared focus of learning about the unique flora/fauna and history of the area, led by naturalist Chip Chase.
  State Championship Loop- Be a champ, ride to moonrock, but at a group pace. led by Mr Jeff or tba
  Nice and Easy- Camp 70 flat loop along the Blackwater River. leader tba
  Olsen Tower/Canyon Rim Ride - ride to and climb up to the tower for an awesome view, then possibly down limerock trail! and back up the rail grade led by Sue or tba 
  Blackwater Canyon Overlooks Tour- Ride out to Table Rock, Lindy Point and the main Falls Overlook. A lot of unpaved miles. Bring a lunch for a picnic on Table Rock!  led by local Gary Berti.
  Ride Downhill at Timberline Four Season Resort on your own for lift-served gravity fed fun. They have some gnarly DH trails! 

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU FOR THE RIDES:

stuff you should always have anyway- pump, multi-tool, tube/s (yes, even if you run tubeless!), patch kit, tire levers.
stuff we highly recommend: spare derailleur hanger, energy bars or snackies, lots of water, eye protection, a good attitude and smile.

  Trail Club Benefeit Party at the Mountain State Brewing Co. pub in Thomas w/ Doc Lambert and the Mtn City Band saturday night.

  Enjoy the local food scene of Davis, Thomas, Canaan Valley and all of Tucker County.
  Listen to live music at Brew Pub and Purple Fiddle or go chill at MTB loving Hellbender Burritos or Sirianis. 

Sunday June 27

9am- noon Trail Maintenance led by the Tucker Country Trails Club on a local riding trail. Come give back to the trails!  Its hard work but really fun, too!
10-12 Family and Kids ride on Camp 70 and CVI. Take the kids out and have a good time.
2pm-4pm Bike Hash : Try something different... Let the Canaan Valley Hash Hound Harriers remind you how fun drinkers are with a mountain biking problem.  Don't worry if you don't know what a hash is...just know its fun!

Come sun or mud! (if heavy rains, we may have activities in the fire hall, including bikes hopefully!)

Lodging: The Bright Morning Inn right in the heart of downtown Davis (book now!), Meyer House B&B, Blackwater Falls State Park Lodge, cabins or camping, Canaan Valley State Park Lodge, cabins, or camping. The Purple Fiddle in Thomas has an Inn and a Hostel also. Rest-Rite campground (has facilities) Tons of free car camping available all over including sweet numbered spots along the river on camp70 road.
